MOXIE [mok-see]

noun / Slang.

  1. courageous spirit and determination; perseverance:

  2. vigor; verve; strength of character

  3. skill; know-how; savvy

We named our guide service Moxie because it speaks of grit, determination, and perseverance; characteristics integral to finding success in the mountains.

Climbing and skiing have the power to build lifelong relationships, foster independence, engender confidence, and promote belonging. We believe mountain guiding must be a part of this process.

We break down the social and financial barriers to accessing high-end technical instruction. We lead with curiosity, open arms, and dedication to our craft and community. Because no one cares what you know until they know that you care.

Moxie uses a progressive pricing model (also known as equity pricing) for our programs.

We publish a cost for every course and then ask you to “pay what you should”. That may mean paying more for your time with Moxie so that someone who otherwise couldn’t afford it can be there too. That might mean you pay a prorated fee or take a course with Moxie on a full scholarship.

While Moxie is committed to getting more people into the mountains, we acknowledge that we operate on stolen land. After every course, we give $10 per client per day to an Indigenous organization as a means of paying our rent.
